Last night’s book launch party was amazing! I’m overwhelmed with the joy and gratitude I am feeling from all my incredible family, friends, and business associates who showed up to celebrate my new book Smart Sales Manager. It was definitely a love fest.
I partnered with Betts Recruiting on this event. Carolyn Betts wasn’t able to be at the event because she is launching her New York office, all of her amazing Bettsers were there in full form. Betts Recruiting is in my chapter on Hiring Talent — because not only are they on the map when it comes to spotting the finest and brightest Millennial sales talent (voted among the top 100 companies) but they get first dibs on the talent. That means these dynamic and energetic hotties are on their way to ruling our world.A special shout out also goes to Ashley Miller for her marketing coordination, to Emily Mathos for stepping in for Carolyn, to Matt (who came equipped with a playlist!), and especially to the Betts boys for giving me the best cougar shot ever.
Special thanks to my crew. Ari and Brennan from Fistfull of Cake Films put the coolest video vignettes together. Nancy Nardin from Smart Selling Tools, who traveled from Sacramento, and Allie Pappazian — a dancer with the Compania Nacional de danza de Espana — came all the way from Madrid to add spice to the event.
For the past 20 years, I have been so fortunate to work with the coolest companies in Silicon Valley. The brightest talent in the inside sales space sits at the helm of these companies, and my clients have always pushed me to keep raising the bar towards excellence. What a treat to have fellow cyclist and Italian compagno Umberto Milletti, CEO of InsideView stop by — another visionary who is paving the way for our industry to thrive. Other companies such as Meraki/Cisco, Jive, Salesforce, LaunchSquad, PeopleMatter, Zendesk, Salesforce, Riverbed, Skype, Pacific Union, Colossi & Associates, and Smart Selling Tools were also represented.
I read an excerpt from my favorite chapter, Chapter 2, on Talent 2.0 — Why Millennials Make a Winning Team of Disruptive Inside Sales Superheroes. It begins with a funny anecdote of Millennials going to their first sales kick-off and all the wild and wonderful things that happen. After reading this, I looked around the room and realized there were people in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s — and one teenager. This is such validation for my life’s work, blending together in one space last night. A night I will always remember!
